Ink-wash inspired painting practice

Channeling the ink through focused energy and disciplined gesture.

My practice is rooted in ink-wash painting, also known as shuǐmòhuà in China and sumi-e in Japan — a tradition that uses water-diluted ink to create a wide range of tonal values. Drawing inspiration from local Nordic environments as well as travels, I work with traditional ink and Xuan papers to explore gesture, brushwork, flow, and the balance of light and dark. This approach seeks to capture the “spirit” of a subject rather than precise realism.
